Elaine and her competition horse Wulfie, competed regularly at International 2 Star Level and Wulfie continued with Brook Staples (Australian Olympic Rider) at Advanced and 3 Star Level.
Over the years, Elaine has constantly had to change and accumulate different saddles as her horses developed. The result was a mountain of kit and an accumulation of experience on what works and what doesn't
A major concern was the criticality of a correctly fitting saddle and the worry of the movable (the horses back) meeting the immovable (the saddle). For example, if you wear an ill fitting body protector, at best it can be uncomfortable and at worst... The same principles apply to a correctly fitting saddle.
A further consideration is that the horses back will subtly change as he or she muscles up through being in work, a saddle that fitted a few weeks ago may or may not fit today.
The solution would be a saddle that was capable of fine adjustment, was completely free of rigid parts and therefore fundamentally pain free to the horse and of course did its job of carrying & supporting the rider.
